A graduate of the University of Wisconsin and mother of four children, Anne Nicol Gaylor founded the Madison, Wis., Zero Population Growth Referral Service, and the Zero Population Growth Women's Medical Fund, which financed abortions for women. A vice-president of the National Abortion Rights Action League, she has spoken widely in Wisconsin on contraception, abortion, and women's rights, and has lobbied on behalf of these causes in Madison and Washington, D.C.
