This eight-member task force was appointed by Governor Rudy Perpich on December 12, 1983 to consider various options for combining or altering the state's constitutional offices--governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, treasurer, auditor, and secretary of state. The task force submitted its final report to the governor on February 1, 1984, with the recommendation that no action be taken on the governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, or auditor offices, but that the offices of treasurer and secretary of state be abolished and their duties transferred to several state departments. Legislative action necessary to implement the recommendations was never taken.
