Carl O. Dossin, born in Meriden, Connecticut, received his bachelor of science degree in 1923 from the University of Connecticut and a master of science degree in 1926 from the University of North Carolina. During World War I, he supervised veterans' poultry farm projects. He joined the Pennsylvania State University agricultural extension staff on September 1, 1927. He retired as professor emeritus of poultry science extension in 1965. In 1974 he was elected a fellow in the National Poultry Science Association.
