Ritchie Garrison of Waban, MA, graduated with the Norwich University class of 1937. He was a member of Theta Chi fraternity, the Drill Team and the Rifle Club. He also served on the staffs of the War Whoop and the Guidon. During World War II, Garrison served as an intelligence officer with the Third Island Command in the South Pacific. His experiences in the New Hebrides area form the basis for his book, Task Force 9156 and III Island Command, published in 1983. Upon his return from the South Pacific, Garrison served with the Armored Battalions of the U. S. After the war, he served abroad in Germany and in the Mediterranean, later returning to the U. S. to work at the Pentagon. Ritchie Garrison retired from the Army in 1964. He was an avid aviator. He served on the Norwich Board of Trustees from 1972-1977 and was active in other university organizations.
