Motherkiln Monthly Meeting (Society of Friends : Hicksite)

Hide Profile

Motherkiln Monthly Meeting was established in 1788 by Western Quarterly Meeting out of a division of Duck Creek Monthly Meeting. At the time of the Hicksite Separation of 1827, the meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. In 1830, Motherkiln Monthly Meeting (Hicksite) merged with Duck Creek Monthly Meeting to form Camden Monthly Meeting. The name of this meeting is spelled variously as "Murtherkill", "Murderkill", and "Motherkill". "Motherkiln" seems to be the latest usage.
