Rudy Vallée, a student at the University of Maine in 1921 and 1922, was a bandleader, singer, saxophonist and actor. His performance of the University of Maine Stein Song in the 1930s popularized the song and introduced many people to the university. The tribute held April 18-23, 1988 included talks on the entertainment business during Vallée's time, showings of his films, and a program on his radio and television contributions.
