Born November 11, 1923 in Beaufort, N.C. Graduated from Johnson C. Smith University in 1948. Studied dentistry at Howard University subsequently opening his dental practice in Charlotte, N.C. Earned a B.div. degree in 1956 from Johnson C. Smith University and was ordained a minister in the United Presbyterian Church, USA. Unsuccessfully sought the North Carolina Democratic Gubernatorial nomination in 1968 and 1972. Installed as pastor of H.O. Graham Metropolitan United Presbyterian Church, USA, in Charlotte in 1978.
