Oxygen Media is a company that incorporates a mix of cable television and internet sites that target women. The company was founded in 1998 by Geraldine and Kit Laybourne in partnership with Marcey Carsey, Tom Werner, Caryn Mandabach and Oprah Winfrey's Harpo Entertainment. In 1998 Oxygen acquired three female-focused websites from America Online in a stock trade and in 2000 launched a 24-hour cable network, the Oxygen Channel.
