Plantation owner of St. John's Berkeley Parish and St Stephen's Parish, S.C. He was the son of Peter Gaillard (1757-1833), and his first wife was Elizabeth Gourdin (1786-1836), daughter of Theodore Gourdin and Elizabeth Gaillard. In 1840 Peter Gaillard married Henrietta Cordes Barker.
