Spiritual Five Singers.

The Spiritual Five Singers (f. 1952) were organized in June of 1952 in Cleveland, Ohio. The group emerged from the Golden Star Singers of York, Alabama, that performed in the late 1940s. The original members of the Spiritual Five were, Johnny, Nathan, and Willie Yarbrough Sr., Willie Samuels and H.J. Wynn. This Gospel singing group has performed in churches, nursing homes, hospitals and prisons. In 1975 the Spiritual Five became the first and only gospel group to sponsor an annual Cancer Gospel-Thon to benefit The American Cancer Society. Nearly $26,000 had been raised through this event by the 1990s.
