The conference entitled, "Wings Over Alaska" was held at Alaska Pacific University in 1980. Funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, the conference brought Alaskan aviation pioneers together to record their comments. Also involved were World War II vetrans who participated in action in Alaska, including James Russell, Masatake Okumiya, and Stanley Long.
