Robbins, Tom.
Variant namesBorn in 1936 in Blowing Rock, North Carolina, Robbins attended Washington and Lee before spending 3 years in the Air Force in Korea. He returned and graduated in 1961 from Richmond Professional Institute (now Virginia Commonwealth University). He held several positions at the Richmond Times-Dispatch, then became part of the counter-culture scene and worked at newspapers in New York and San Francisco before settling in Seattle. His first book, Another Roadside Attraction, was published in 1971 followed by the even more successful Even Cowgirls Get the Blues in 1976. Of his written several novels, and many short stories and essays. He continues to write and lives in Northwestern Washington.
