Aero Club of Illinois

Hide Profile

The Aero Club of Illinois operated two flying fields. The first, Cicero Flying Field, was one of the most modern in America at the time and was utilized from 1911 until 1915, when Charles Dickinson purchased a plot of land on Chicago's southwest side at 79th to 87th Streets and from Pulaski Road to Cicero Avenue to become Ashburn Field, which served as the organization's official flying field from 1915 to 1951. The club's executive offices were maintained in the Auditorium Building, Chicago.
