Green, James Wood, 1842-1919.
Green received his A.B. in 1866 and his A.M. in 1886, both from Williams. He joined the faculty of KU as the Professor in Charge of the Law Department in 1878. In 1891 he became a Professor of Law and the Dean of the Law School. He died in 1919. The first Law School building on campus was named Green Hall in his honor in 1905. When the Law School moved to a new location in 1979, the new building retained his name and the old Law School building was renamed Lippincott Hall after KU's fourth chancellor, Joshua Lippincott.
