Variant namesThe Family Service Association of Indianapolis, a private social agenc y, was founded in 1835 as the Indianapolis Benelovent Society, the first social agency in the state. It combined with other organizations to become the Family Welfare Society of Indianapolis, and changed its name in 1945 to its current form.
