Doubleday, Ellen McCarter, 1899-1978.
Ellen McCarter Doubleday was the wife of Nelson Doubleday (1889-1949), president of the publishing firm Doubleday & Company, and daughter of Thomas N. McCarter (Princeton Class of 1888), president of the Public Service Co. of New Jersey and a Princeton University benefactor. After her husband's death, she served on the board of directors of Doubleday until she moved to Hawaii in 1965.
