Charles A. Jackson was a United States (U.S.) Army officer who attained the rank of brigadier general. He graduated from the Citadel in 1942. During World War II (WWII), he saw action in the North African and Italian campaigns. After the war, he was discharged and then was recalled to duty in 1952 with the 40th Infantry Division in the Korean War. During the later 1950s, he attended the Armed Forces Staff College (AFSC) and was assigned to the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff (CoS) for Military Operations (DCSOPS). After several commands and staff positions, Jackson was assigned to Vietnam in 1967 as commander of the 1st Brigade and chief of staff of the 4th Infantry Division. From 1968 through 1969, he was assigned to the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS). Jackson returned to Vietnam as an advisor in 1970 and in 1971 was assigned to the 2nd Armored Division.

Charles A. Jackson was a United States Army brigadier general who was born in Columbia, S.C. in 1918, attended the Citadel and graduated as a 2nd lieutenant. He was assigned to the 22nd Infantry Division and then the 168th Infantry Regiment. Jackson saw action during World War II (WWII) in the North African and Italian campaigns. After the war he was discharged and then recalled to duty in 1952-1953 with the 40th Infantry Division in Korea. After that war, he became an instructor at the Infantry School. In 1956 he was assigned to the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for operations in D.C. After graduation from the Armed Forces Staff College in 1960 he was assigned to the United States Army, Europe until 1961 when he was sent to command the 2nd Armored Rifle Battalion, 51st Infantry, 4th Armored Division in Europe. He then attended the National War College in 1963 and by 1966 became an Army planner in the Office of the Director of Strategic Plans and Policies, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations. Jackson was then assigned to Vietnam in 1967 as commander of the 1st Brigade and Chief of Staff of the 4th Infantry Division. In 1968-1969 period he was assigned to the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He returned to Vietnam as an advisor in 1970 and in 1971 was assigned to the 2nd Armored Division. From 1973-1974 he was director of Security Assistence.
