Everett P. Wood (1901-1995), president of Yukon Equipment, Inc., in Fairbanks, Alaska, was instrumental in acquiring federal funding for roads in Alaska. Working with Delegate Bob Bartlett, Wood enlisted the support of the governor of Alaska and agencies within the Territory to convince federal legislators that Alaska should be included in President Eisenhower's program to expand federal aid to highways. Wood's efforts were successful. In 1956 federal legislation authorized Alaska's inclusion in the Federal-aid Highway Program.
