Star Gospel Mission (Charleston, S.C.)
South Carolina's oldest Christian welfare organization founded in 1904 by Obadiah Dugan as an evangelistic ministry to the poor and homeless; its early services included housing for indigent men and boys, a crisis shelter for women, job assistance, a thrift store, a Sunday school, Bible studies, a summer camp for needy children, and a jail ministry.
