Backscheider, Paula R.
Backscheider graduated with a Ph. D. in eighteenth-century English Restoration literature from Purdue University. In 1992, she joined the Auburn University English Dept. as Pepperell Eminent Scholar. She has published and edited several books on Daniel Defoe and other 18th century English writers. Her biography of Defoe, published in 1989, won the British Council Prize in 1990.
