Bernhard Ostrolenk was born in Poland in 1887 and grew up in Gloversville, NY. He pursued his studies at the National Farm School, Massachusetts Agricultural College, Boston University and University of Pennsylvania. He served as a farm director in Vineland, NJ ; director of agriculture in schools in Minnesota (1912-1916) ; director of the National Farm School in Doyleston, PA (1916-1927) ; member of the editorial staff of the New York Times Annalist (1929-1931) ; and scholar in finance and agriculture at the University of Pennsylvania (1924-1928) and City College of New York (1931-1944).
