Writer. Born 1934 in Whittier, Calif. A member of the Akwesasne Mohawk Nation, Wolf Clan. Educated in Michigan and New Mexico. One of the first Native American women in the United States to receive a Ph. D. Published extensively on Native Americans and is also a poet and fiction writer.
