Land Institute
Research institution, educational organization, ecological agriculture foundation; of Salina, Kan. Non-profit organization established in 1976 and devoted to the development of alternative forms of agriculture. Founded by Wes and Dana Jackson. Seeks to find a type of agriculture that mimics the native prairie of Kansas, does not deplete natural resources, and promotes prosperous communities. Major programs include: natural systems agriculture research, Sunshine Farm, rural community studies, graduate research fellowships, and the Prairie Writers Circle.
