Dudley, John S., d. 1863
Farmer and soldier John S. Dudley (d. 1863) was born to John Dudley and Nancy Cartledge in Moore County, Tennessee. Dudley settled on a farm in Alabama, where he married Martha Caroline Maples and had two children. In 1861, Dudley enlisted in the Confederate Army and was killed at the battle of Chancellorsville two years later. After his death, his wife moved to Collin County, Texas.
