Latta, William A.
William A. Latta was a private in Company D of the 47th Indiana Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. Latta enlisted on 21 October 1861 in Wabash County, Indiana. He was 21 at the time of his enlistment. The 47th Indiana Infantry was organized in Anderson, Indiana on 13 December 1861. It was assigned to General Wood's brigade of General Buell's army in Bardstown, Kentucky. Latta was with the regiment up until 26 February 1863 when he became ill and died of typhoid fever.
