Charles W. Nagel, commonly known as Chas Nagel, was employed in the Agronomy Department at Washington State University until 1993. He received degrees from the University of California and joined the faculty of Washington State University as a microbiologist in about 1960. Beginning in 1964, his work at WSU included studies of aspects of wine production, which he continued for the next three decades.
