Alice Steele (Cheney) Baltzell was born 27 August 1867 in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Benjamin Pierce and Elizabeth Stickney (Clapp) Cheney. She married 12 February 1907 as the second wife to Dr. William Hewson Baltzell. She was elected a colonial member of the New England Historic Genealogical Society on 31 December 1929. Her father, Benjamin Pierce Cheney was elected to be a life member in 1870, and her mother was voted a life member in 1907. Alice (Cheney) Baltzell passed away on 3 November 1938 in New York City, New York at the age of seventy one. A complete memoir of Alice Steele (Cheney) Baltzell can be found in The Register, 93:195
