Allen J. Stevens was a Veteran of the Mexican Border campaign in 1916 and served in France with Company 'G' 112th Infantry Regiment, 28th Infantry Division, participating in the Champage-Marne, Aisne-Marne and Oise-Aisne engagements. In 1920 following WWI, he was commissioned second lieutenant, Cavalry, 104th Cavalry Regiment and served from 1920 to 1941 as troop commander, squadron commander and as executive officer, 104th Cavalry Regiment. He was instrumental in securing the land and construction of the Armory (1933) now occupied by units of the 104th Armored Cavalry. He was recalled to active duty in February 1941 and served with Headquarters 28th Infantry Division and with Headquarters IV (4th) Army Corps, Fort Beauregard, Louisiana. From November 1942 to December 1944, he served in Iraq and Iran as Assistant Inspector General Desert Area and as commanding officer Camp Scott and the Sultanabad area. He was released from active duty in 1946. He remained in the active reserve as director of the Reserve Command and General Staff School until 1957 when he retired as colonel. He was a graduate of the Cavalry School, Fort Riley, Kansas in 1935 and of the Command and General Staff School, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
