Mexican American musician Johnny C. Moa has managed and formerly performed with the Dallas-based True Kings Band (later the True King Band de Johnny Moa) since its beginning in 1972. Originally from Brownsville, Texas, he came to Dallas in the early 1960s. The True King Band de Johnny Moa was inducted into the Tejano Roots Hall of Fame and Museum in 2007.

Mexican American musician Olegario H. Cano, Jr., grew up in Dallas, Texas. Nicknamed Ollie, he has been the drummer for the True Kings Band since 1972, which at the time of the interview was 25 years.
