Boyd, L. S. (Leroy Stafford), 1873-1936.
Boyd, a Louisiana native, moved to Auburn, Alabama, in 1883 when his father, David French Boyd, was appointed president of the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama, later Auburn University. He earned his B.S. degree in 1892 and M.S. degree in 1895 from Auburn. In 1899, he graduated with a law degree from Tulane University and was admitted to the Louisiana state bar, but never practiced. He moved to Washington, D.C., where he worked for the Library of Congress, 1900-1904, and as librarian for the Interstate Commerce Commission, 1905-1936.
