The markers, erected by the Kentucky Historical Society, note historical places such as the sites of Civil War incidents in Paducah and homes of prominent individuals. These include a plaque in front of the house of Alben W. Barkley which describes his life, and a marker dedicated to Confederate General Lloyd Tilghman on the site of his house.
