Mrs. Evelyn C. Martin-Johnson was born in 1920, in St. Louis, MO, and moved to Buffalo NY with her parents. She enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in both the U.S. Women's Auxiliary Army Corps and the Women's Army Corps from 1942-1946. She was assigned to the European Theater of Operations and stationed at Birmingham, England and Rouen, France. Mrs. Martin-Johnson rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant assigned with the 6888th Postal Delivery Unit while receiving the Army Good Conduct Medal, Women's Army Corps Service Medal and European - African - Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. As a Case Worker with the Department of Social Welfare, she and her husband lived their adult lives in Buffalo, NY, before moving to Tampa FL, where she worked as "The Arcade Queen" of Busch Gardens for 20 years before retiring.
