American Whaling Company formed ca. 1930 to send whaling expedition from New York to the Antarctic in Sept. 1930; used the whaling factory ship Frango with the intention of selling the oil in the U.S., but because of the Depression, eventually sold it to European buyers in 1935; made more expeditions in 1938 and 1939. The Frango made more expeditions in 1938 and 1939 which are documented in this collection.
