Robert William Eubank (1834-1894), a surveyor in his native Lancaster County, Virginia (1854-64), was appointed first lieutenant and adjutant, 47th Regiment, Virginia Volunteers in 1861. After promotion to captain in 1862, he was wounded at Mechanicsville and became a major of the home guard in Richmond. He was discharged in 1864 and moved with his wife to Salisbury, Missouri for two years and then to Baltimore and Havre de Grace, Maryland where he taught school until his death.
