Institute for Research in History (New York, N.Y.)
Variant namesThe Institute for Research in History was founded in 1975, incorporated in 1976, and flourished until 1989. It was established as a feminist organization to promote work in the field of women's history and the work of women historians generally. As it evolved it encompassed historians, academic, independent, and public, and projects in every field of history. Its activities were funded with membership dues and grants from various foundations and government agencies. Institute activities comprised ongoing discussion and research groups, exhibitions, publications, and special projects.
