Pioneer settler, farmer, real estate agent and historian from Kossuth County, Iowa.
Ambrose was born in Ohio and removed to Iowa with his brother, Asa, in 1854. Together they built a cabin, establishing the first Iowa home north of Fort Dodge in what is now Kossuth County, Iowa. They also established the town of Algona. Ambrose Call was the founder of the Algona Pioneer Press, a Kossuth County historian, an authority on the political and business development of Iowa and was of assistance in the establishment of the State Historical Department. Call's daughter, Florence, married Gardner Cowles of Des Moines.
