Justus Adelberg was a metallurgist and engineer. Together with Rossiter Worthington Raymond (1840-1918), he formed a mining and assaying partnership in New York City in 1864. Raymond became prominent in the developing profession of mining engineering, serving as editor of the American Journal of Mining, United States Commissioner of Mining Statistics, and secretary of the American Institute of Mining Engineering.
