He was, for example, a member of the advisory board of the Cooper-Hewitt Museum of Design, treasurer of the Empire State Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, treasurer of the Committee of Episcopal Laymen of New York, treasurer of the Pioneer Fund, as well as being active in the American Coalition of Patriotic Societies.
