Harry Herndon Critz was born in 1912 and became a United States (U.S.) Army officer, chief of staff (CoS), and commanding general (CG) of 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; secretary of staff for Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE); and commanding general for U.S. Army, Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Harry H. Critz graduated from the United States Military Academy (USMA), West Point, New York, with the Class of 1935. He served in the United States (U.S.) Army as a career soldier, retiring in 1971 with the rank of Lieutenant General. Critz commanded the I Corps in Korea from 1967-1968.
