Miner and UMWA officer.
Born in Wales in 1890 and immigrated to Athens County at age 2. Began working in the mines at age 10, and lost a leg in an accident at age 15, but continued to mine. Began organizational career with the United Mine Workers of America and held numerous positions with that organization until his retirement in 1972. Died 1984 in Cambridge, Ohio.
