Garthwaite, Edwin H. b. 1857.

Edwin Hatfield Garthwaite, a mining engineer, was born in San Francisco, Calif. on Aug. 5, 1857. He attended the University of California, Berkeley for two years and finished his education in Freiberg, Germany in 1881. He worked in Mexico, Northern California and in 1895 went to work in Rhodesia for over ten years. Edwin Hatfield Garthwaite married Augusta Lowell on Aug. 30, 1890, in Oakland, Calif. They had four children, one dying as an infant while living in Mexico.
