The Council on the International Cooperation in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space (Intercosmos) was founded by Presidium of the Academy on 10 August 1966. On 3 March 1992 "Intercosmos" was reorganized in the Executive Bureau on Space Exploration. The chairmen of the "Intercosmos": B. N. Petrov; V. A. Kotelʹnikov (1981-1991); the head of the Executive Bureau: A. I. Tsaryov (since 1992).
