Robert M. Simpson of Portsmouth, NH, graduated with the Norwich University class of 1929. During his years at Norwich, he was involved in baseball, football and the outing club. He was also a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. During World War II, Robert Simpson served as an infantry company commander (G Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Division) during the Guadalcanal and Bougainville campaigns in the Solomon Islands and was awarded both the Bronze and Silver Stars. He was on active duty from 1942 to 1945. The control file included with the collection contains additional biographical information on Robert M. Simpson.
