Variant namesMarguerite Mueller-Desmond was born in Switzerland in 1908. She came to the United States as a nursing student in 1929. While working in San Francisco, she met Lawrence C. Desmond, whom she married in 1931. They had homes in San Francisco and Lake Tahoe. Their son Lawrence Gustave Desmond was born in 1935. A specialist in the civilization of the ancient Maya, he recieved his PhD. in anthropology and archaeology from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and is affiliated with the Moses Mesoamerican Archive and Research Project at Harvard University and the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco.
