Journalist, photographer, and free-lance writer who became involved with coal mining issues after moving to Beckley, W. Va., in the 1960s with her husband, Dr. Donald Rasmussen, a pulmonary specialist who devoted much of his practice to treating miners with black lung disease. Many of Jeanne Rasmussen's writings and photographs dealt with coal miners and with Appalachian life and were published in books and periodicals. She served as treasurer and West Virginia press representative for Joseph A. "Jock" Yablonski's unsuccessful campaign in 1969 for presidency of the United Mine Workers of America.
