Members of the Vanderpoel family include James Vanderpoel (1787-1843), lawyer and politician; his brother Aaron Vanderpoel (b. 1799), lawyer and politician. William H. Tobey (1799-1878) was Aaron's law partner. All were residents of Kinderhook, N.Y.
