Dorothy E. Bliss was an invertebrate zoologist, carcinologist and museum curator.

Bliss specialized in neuroendocrinology, particularly of decapod crustaceans, and conducted extensive research on the tropical land crab, Gecarcinus lateralis. She was curator at the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) from 1956 to 1978; and chair 1974-1977, Dept. of Fossil and Living Invertebratess which, under her direction, merged into the Dept. of Invertebrates. She became curator emerita in 1977. Bliss was also a research assistant and professor of anatomy at the Alfred Einstein College of Medicine. She died in 1981.
