The Dept. of Animal Ecology became independent from the Iowa State's Dept. of Zoology and Entomology (College of Liberal Arts and Sciences) and was established as part of the College of Agriculture in 1975. In 2002, the Dept. was merged with Forestry and was named the Dept. of Natural Resource Ecology and Management. The Dept. has a focus on the ecology and management of free-living vertebrate and invertebrate animals, and provides teaching and the administration of undergraduate and graduate programs concerning biology, ecology, wildlife and ecosystem management.
