Royal geographical society of Australasia
Variant namesThe Australasian Geographical Society was founded in Sydney in 1883. Sir Edward Strickland was its first president, and Mr. La Meslee its first General Secretary. The Queensland branch of the Society was formed in Brisbane in 1885 by Dr James Park Thomson.
