Oscar Albartus Janes. Born in Rock County, Wisconsin, 1843. Came to Michigan in 1863 to attend Hillsdale College; attended 2 months and enlisted in 4th Mich. Inf. After discharge from Army he returned to college, graduating in 1868. He was admitted to the bar in 1872. Was city attorney of Hillsdale for five years; alderman for two; circuit court commissioner for 4 years and Hillsdale Co. Probate Court judge for eight. State Senator from 6th district. Dept.
